Myanmar 14D/13N Tour to Nagaland for the Naga New Year Festival with Tamanthi National Park and Monywa
January 2009

Day 1 (Jan 12): arrive Yangon in morning and take flight to Homalin. Proceed by boat to Tamanthi for lunch and then on to Layshi. Overnight Layshi (alt arrive Yangon on Jan 11 and tour Yangon - overnight Yangon)

Day 2: all day sightseeing Layshi and district visiting Naga villages and studying the Naga's way of life. Overnight Layshi

Day 3: morning take part in the ceremony of erecting the Naga Ceremonial Pole. Afternoon sightseeing Layshi and district. Overnight Layshi

Day 4: morning take part in the opening ceremony of the Naga New Year Festival. All day entertainment with Naga traditional dances and in the evening take part in the Naga New Year Festival celebrations around a big bonfire. Overnight Layshi

Day 5: morning drive to Tamanthi National Park and wonder at the flora and fauna. Overnight in the Park.

Day 6: all day exploring Tamanthi National Park which was established in 1974. The park is 830 square miles in area and is famous for Aloe wood (or Eagle wood) Plantations, elephants, white winged ducks (cairine scutalata) and the Atlas moth. Overnight in the Park

Day 7: all day exploring Tamanthi National Park. Overnight in the Park

Day 8: take boat to Homalin. Overnight Homalin

Day 9: morning take boat to Monywa. Overnight boat

Day 10: morning arrive Monywa and all day exploring Monywa and District including Phowindaung Hill caves; Kyaukka Shwe Gu Ni Pagoda and lacquerware workshops and also Htan Kauk Waterfall. Overnight Monywa

Day 11: morning take leisurely drive to Mandalay and on the way visit Mohnyin Than Buddhe Pagoda where there are over half a million seated Buddha Images. Continue to Bodi-Ta-Htaung which means 1,000 Bo trees - nowadays there are many more trees; also see the second biggest reclining Buddha Image. Continue to Kaunghmudaw Paya with its enormous dome 46 metres high in Sagaing. Overnight Mandalay

Day 12: morning fly to Bagan and all day tour Bagan. Overnight Bagan

Day 13: all day tour Bagan. Overnight Bagan

Day 14: morning fly to Yangon and all day tour Yangon. International Deaprtures
